Artist Background
Caroli's background was in show business as a Theatrical
Agent and Manager for nearly twenty years. She owned a Talent Management Agency
in New York; representing young Actors in television, commercials, stage and
film.
The mother of one of her clients was a talented Artist and friend. After receiving
a DOTY nomination for one of her composition dolls she asked Caroli to represent
her work. A keen interest in Artist dolls began to unfold. Devoting all available
time to a self study program of porcelain production (and with the help of a
few family members), a second business evolved in producing her friend's limited
editions; until Roberta returned to her original pursuit of oil painting.
Remaining in the entertainment industry; but unwilling to give up this new passion
for doll making; Caroli began sculpting as a peaceful refuge awaiting her at
the end of a hectic business day. The personalities and expressions of the young
Actors she represented seemed to emerge through the faces she created.
For several years Caroli's new interest remained a hobby until she began to
receive inquiries through a friend who had commissioned a one of a kind doll.
Although continuing to represent existing clients, she decided not to initiate
new talent searches and began to pursue doll making as a professional goal.
In 1994 Caroli debuted her work at the New York International Toy Fair with
Thomas Boland; whose notable reputation in the doll industry she respected
and admired. She was invited to work with the Georgetown Collection; and
following the 1995 Toy Fair began producing dolls for Ashton-Drake
Galleries, direct marketing; and Elite Productions, telemarketing; and Marie
Osmond's new company, Marian LLC.
Caroli creates special projects, modified limited editions, and one of a kind
dolls in her own studio.
When asked how she compares her life as a doll Artist to her former profession;
she says.....

"The young
Actors I represented remain in my heart forever for their continuing
inspiration in the dolls I create.
Those dolls are my heart.......and I am the
luckiest person in the world to have found both".
