As a mother watches her new
baby holding her favorite bear, she imagines the lifetime of that treasured
friend ....
BABIES AND THEIR BEARS
No other dreams will be so sweet,
As those with a favorite bear;
Filling her life with memories,
Of all the things you’ll share.
How many secrets will she tell,
Whispered in your ear;
And how many times will she hold you tight,
To calm a sudden fear?
Whenever she cries, you’ll cradle her face,
Till the tears are wiped away;
While counting the kisses and hugs that you get,
Before you began to fray.
What giggles she’ll have from the faces you make,
Each time she pulls your nose;
And the hundreds of playmates you’ll become,
Dressed in her baby clothes.
How long will you wait upon her shelf,
After she’s finally grown;
Until the day you’re lovingly placed,
Into the arms of her own?
