Roberta is a New York resident
who began formal art studies at the age of seven; in all forms of painting drawing
and sculpting. Following college, she continued her studies at the Art
Students League in Woodstock; and with Frank J. Reilly in New York City.
For many years she sculpted portrait dolls and in 1992 she received a DOTY nomination
for a composition entry.
Roberta's sculpting abilities
extend beyond her life-like dolls. Her large "float" sculptures were prominently
displayed in "Disneyland's Millennium parade celebration; and a line of figurines
were reproduced in resin.
Roberta introduced me to
Artist's dolls. We met and became friends twenty years ago when her daughter
Mary (a gifted young Actress) became my client in television, films and commercials.
Following her DOTY nomination Roberta asked me to represent her work; which
ultimately led to a second business venture for my husband and me; producing
her limited editions in porcelain.
After several years I began
sculpting original dolls and she re-established a successful painting career
with exhibitions in many Galleries and Museums. She is noted for her historical
landscapes and landmark buildings; with contributions in the preservation of
the Hudson River's "Bannermans Castle" and the "Poughkeepsie Railroad Bridge"
restoration. A painting is permanently displayed in the "Wilderstein Museum
and she is honored to have work as part of a Corporate art collection.
With a wide range of versatility,
Roberta has a wonderful ability to create her oil paintings from simple photo
references. Animal lovers and pet owners especially appreciate her
animal portraits.
Collaborating with me on
"Marcy's
Gift" was so enjoyable,
we are already working on another project.
